Two spring & summer wines -

The first is a delicious red Burgundy Passetoutgrains (pronounced Pas-To-Gran) made by one ofBurgundys top growers and wine makers. Passetoutgrains is made by blending Pinot Noir and Gamay. The blend combines the power, fullness and acidity of Pinot Noir, and the pronounced fruit of Gamay, which is the grape used to make all Beaujolais. We love to chill it for 15 or so minutes before serving so the temperature is around 64F.

The second, a white, evokes spring itself, with flowers, pears, and melon. The local name of the grape is Turbiana but most often it is called Trebbiano di Lagana. This mouthwatering wine from Lombardy, in north central Italy, begs for another sip. Chill this wine to around 57F, meaning cool, but not so cold as to lose the beautiful nose of flowers and stone fruits.

Neal Martin writes: The 2021 Bourgogne Passetoutgrains, bottled in the summer, showed a lot of reduction during its maturation. It offers quite plump, red plummy aromas that seem quite pure. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly angular tannins, a nice piquancy here with traces of blue fruit on the slight monochromatic finish. - Vinous
