Happy International Women's Day

This International Women's Day,we reflect on our journey as entrepreneurs. Four years ago, when we first started Balkan Bites, we brought samples of our burek to a small distributor and he told us to "stick to catering because we'll never succeed in grocery stores". Ever since, we've been on a mission to prove him wrong and share our culture and cuisine as widely as possible.Were happy to report that we now work with five large distributors and are available in grocery stores in 19 states across the country (soon to be 31 states).

It hasn't been easy and there have been manyset backsalong the way. Grocery stores are used to working with well funded, big food companies who can pay for space on the shelf. As a bootstrapped, small business with little to spend on marketing, it's really hard to compete against thefood giants.In order for us to stay on the shelf, we have to prove that there is a lot of demand forburek.
