Who's ready for some fireworks?

Celebrate the new year in Bitsbox style! With a fun mini-app, kiddos can make their own fireworks show to play over and over again.

Build your own fireworks show:

First, log in to our free coding environment. Create a new app and select the option to invent your own app. Then, copy lines 1-27 from the Fireworks code and paste it into your new app.

Click the play button and start tapping the screen to see the fireworks.

Customize your new app:

Take a look at lines 1-4 in your app. What happens if you change line 3 to speed = 100? Do your fireworks burst faster or slower?

Try modifying each of these lines to add your own creative flair.

Line 1 controls the background. If you change the code to fill('cave') and press play, what do you see?

Line 2 controls how long the fireworks fall to the ground. Try changing the number, but don't forget to keep the equal sign.

Can you figure out how to change the song playing in the background?

Explore the functions:

Notice lines 23-27. This function is what launches the fireworks when you click or tap the screen.

On line 26, you can change the sound effects in your own app. Insert the code for another sound or try updating this line to sound('fido'). What happens when you press play and then tap the sky on the left?
