A'S LEAVING OAKLAND AFTER 2024, WILL PLAY IN SACRAMENTO FROM 2025 TO 2027
The Oakland Athletics are officially leaving town in coordinator with their impending move to Las Vegas. According to a team announcement on Thursday, the A's are leaving Oakland following the 2024 season, and will play their home games for the 2025-27 seasons in Sacramento at Sutter Health Park. The agreement also includes an option for a fourth season. The A's are expected to begin playing in Las Vegas in time for the start of the 2028 season.
Here's more from CBS Sports MLB writers Matt Snyder and R.J. Anderson on why the decision was made:
Snyder: "The A's lease with the City of Oakland is set to expire at the end of this season, yet the A's rejected a five-year extension on the lease of Oakland Coliseum. That, plus an apparent desire to retain as much of their local broadcasting revenue as possible (a factor that my have dissuaded them from temporarily relocating to Salt Lake City or other out-of-state possibilities), led the A's to the capital city of California."
The Hot Ticket
76ers at Heat, 7:30 p.m. | TV: League Pass
The Pick: 76ers +2 (-109)
Key trend: The Sixers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games.
SportsLine expert Zack Cimini is 3-1 in his last four NBA ATS picks.
Cimini: "The Philadelphia 76ers used a late surge to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in their last game. That contest marked the return of Joel Embiid, but also devalued the win a tad because the Thunder were without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. On Thursday, the Sixers get a solid matchup against a Heat team that they defended well and limited to 91 points on March 18. Grab the 76ers as the slight underdogs in this spot."
