JIMMY GAROPPOLO SUSPENDED TWO GAMES FOR VIOLATING NFL'S PED POLICY
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is slated to miss some time to begin the 2024 NFL season. According to CBS Sports lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, Garoppolo has been suspended two games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. ESPN is also reporting that Garoppolo's positive test resulted from "using a prescribed medication without having a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption." The Raiders are reportedly expected to release Garoppolo prior to the start of the new league year in mid-March.
Here's more from CBS Sports NFL writer Jared Dubin on how Garoppolo faired with the Raiders in 2023:
Dubin:"Garoppolo managed to start only six games for the Raiders, going 3-3 while completing 65.1% of his passes at an average of 7.1 yards per attempt, with seven touchdowns against nine interceptions. Injuries and ineffectiveness led to his being benched in favor of rookie fourth-rounder Aidan O'Connell."
The Hot Ticket
Hurricanes at Coyotes, 9 p.m. | TV: ESPN+
The Pick: Hurricanes -1.5 (+118)
Key trend: The Coyotes have lost five of their last seven games by two or more goals.
SportsLine expert Griffin Carroll is 3-1 in his last four NHL picks
Carroll:"There's only one game tonight, and it's certainly seeming clear that Carolina can handle business here against Arizona. The Hurricanes are averaging 4.3 goals and allowing only 2.3 goals per contest across the last two months on the road. Meanwhile, the Coyotes have allowed 3.8 goals-per-game and are scoring just 2.3 at home over the same stretch. Couple those traditional numbers with a power play edge that favors Carolina, and the Hurricanes are the play here. Karel Vejmelka is in net for Arizona, who has allowed 4+ goals five of his past seven starts."
Here's what else SportsLine is saying about the game:The Projection Model has an "A" pick on the spread, while having a "B" pick on the moneyline.Get one week of picks from SportsLine completely free with the promo codeNEWSLETTER*
