One of the most enchanting weekends is upon us as we're just about 48 hours away from Super Bowl Sunday kickoff. CHIP KELLY REPORTEDLY EXPECTED TO BECOME OHIO STATE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
UCLA has announced that Chip Kelly has left the Bruins head coaching job, reportedly because he is expected to become Ohio State's next offensive coordinator. Ohio State had previously hired Bill O'Brien last month to fill the offensive coordinator role, but O'Brien is closing in on a deal to become Boston College's head coach. Kelly does have some history with Ohio State head coach Ryan Day as Day played for Kelly at New Hampshire in the late 1990s.
Here's more from CBS Sports college football writer Dean Straka on how Kelly fared at UCLA:
"Kelly leaves Los Angeles with a 35-34 overall record just as the Bruins prepare to join Ohio State in the Big Ten in time for the 2024 season. UCLA peaked with nine wins under Kelly in 2022. He previously had a run as the coach at Oregon -- also Big Ten bound this offseason -- from 2009-12 that included a BCS National Championship Game appearance in 2010."
The Hot Ticket
Hawks at 76ers, 7 p.m. | TV: NBA TV
The Pick: Onyeka Okongwu Over 21.5 Points & Rebounds (-127)
Key trend: Okongwu has registered at least 22 points and rebounds in four of his five starts this season.
SportsLine expert Mike Barner is 9-4 in his last 13 NBA picks.
"Onyeka Okongwu is going to get another start with Clint Capela (thigh) set to miss his third straight game. In the first game that Capela missed, Okongwu finished with 18 points and five rebounds, while having 19 points and 10 boards in the second. He has made five total starts this season and posted at least 22 combined points and rebounds in four of them. The 76ers are thin up front with Joel Embiid (knee) out, so look for Okongwu to exploit that matchup"
