STEELERS AMONG BEST BETS FOR 2024 SEASON
A good chunk of the NFL offseason is in the books with many of the marquee free agents having found new homes. Even with the NFL Draft still another month away, many bettors will be looking to get ahead of the action, and place some futures wagers for the 2024 season. BetMGM recently released its over/under win totals for each NFL team, and the Steelers are considered among the best bets to deliver. Pittsburgh did makeover its roster quite a bit as the team added Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to their quarterback room and traded former first-round pick Kenny Pickett.
Here's more from CBS Sports NFL writer John Breech on why the Steelers are one of the best bets heading into the 2024 season:
Breech:"Mike Tomlin has been the Steelers coach since 2007 and in the 17 seasons since then, he has a NEVER had a losing record, so I'm not going to bet against him now. Tomlin managed to get the Steelers to 10 wins last season, which was a minor miracle considering the team's quarterback situation. Russell Wilson might not be the Russell Wilson of old anymore, but he still feels like an upgrade over anything Pittsburgh had at QB last year."
The Hot Ticket
NCAA Men's Tournament, Sweet 16: No. 1 Purdue vs. No. 5 Gonzaga, 7:39 p.m. | TV: TBS
The Pick: Purdue -5.5 (-109)
Key trend: Purdue has covered the spread in both of its NCAA Tournament games thus far.
SportsLine expert Chip Patterson is 9-4 in his last 13 CBB ATS picks.
Patterson: "Few teams were as impressive as Purdue over the opening weekend, and what the performances -- wins of 28 and 39 points -- highlighted the surrounding parts that make the Boilermakers a more well-rounded title contender than a year ago. The guards are older, the transfer additions have hit and the team fits well around Zach Edey structurally on both offense and defense. Gonzaga has been playing like a different team since March 1, but Purdue has been playing a higher level all season and that will be on display on Friday night."
