A UNIQUE LOOK AT BUCKS/PACERS FEUD OVER THE GAME BALL
Wednesday's game between the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks should be remembered for Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo scoring a franchise-high 64-points in (perhaps) a measure of retribution after being bounced in the NBA's In-Season Tournament semifinals last week. However, it's likely going to be known for what transpired after the final whistle.
Following the Bucks' 140-126 win, Antetokounmpo and a few of his teammates were searching for the game ball as a keepsake for the historic accomplishment. It turned out that the Pacers took what they thought was "a" game ball to the locker room because rookie Oscar Tshiebwe had scored his first NBA points, but didn't believe that they had the actual game ball. Antetokounmpo, along with teammates Cam Payne, Jae Crowder, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, made their way towards the locker room to find said game ball when chaos ensued. CBS Sports NBA writer Jack Maloney was in attendance for the chaotic scene, and
provided a detailed account of everything that transpired.
Maloney provided a firsthand account on how the situation began:
"As the clock wound down on what would be a comfortable win for the Bucks, no one was paying much attention to the Pacers' bench area. Reporters (including myself) across the court in the press box were packing up when suddenly there was a sense of commotion.
"I looked up just in time to see multiple Bucks players heading down the Pacers' tunnel, which, of course, is not supposed to happen. Soon thereafter, Antetokounmpo reappeared and began angrily yelling and gesturing at Tyrese Haliburton, who was still on the court."
The Hot Ticket
Chargers at Raiders, 8:15 p.m. | TV: Prime Video
The Pick: Under 34.5 (-110)
Key trend: The under is 10-3 in Chargers games this season.
SportsLine expert Mike Tierney is 13-6 in his last 19 NFL over/under picks.
"When Easton Stick learned he would start in lieu of the injured Justin Herbert, his first thought might have been, "Glad I got Keenan Allen to throw to." Wednesday, Stick learned something else -- no Allen. The go-to WR was scratched with a heel injury that he has weathered all season. The Raiders are reeling from a shutout, following two outings in which they scored a combined 29 points. Elite pass-rusher Maxx Crosby, listed as questionable, is determined to play hurt. Who could blame him? The thought of bearing down on a QB who had taken two NFL snaps before Sunday and without his primary target must be motivating."
