Trump may lose his concealed carry permit

Former President Donald Trump may be primed to lose his concealed carry permit in New York after he was convicted on thirty-four felony charges.

Trump was convicted last week for falsifying business records to make a hush money payment. His carry permit was suspended last spring when he was initially indicted, while two of the three handguns he was licensed to conceal were surrendered to the New York Police Department and a third was transferred to his residence in Florida.

Police will investigate whether Trump should permanently lose his concealed carry license since felons are not permitted to possess firearms under federal law.

Trump may have the opportunity to challenge the revocation of his carry license in a hearing. He had the permit for more than a decade and through his presidency.

The conviction of Trump comes as he emerges as the presumptive Republican nominee for the presidential election this fall. He delivered a speech at the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association last month during which he lambasted President Joe Biden for his efforts to expand federal firearm regulations, as well as promoted the Second Amendment policies he wants to pursue.

Trump said Biden is coming for your guns if he is allowed four more years. He added that crooked Joe has a forty-year record of trying to rip firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens and cautioned that Second Amendment liberties have been consistently under siege during the Biden administration.

The White House has indeed prioritized gun control, using executive orders to circumvent Congress and implement tighter regulations.The administration noted in a fact sheet that Biden signed an executive order calling for the nation to move as close to universal background checks as possible within existing law.
