The sun is out again and you may be tempted to lie out in the sun, soaking it up as often as possible.

Or maybe you are holidaying in a hot climate to be sure to soak it up daily? Vanity and fashion dictate that a tan looks good and most of us feel better with a a tan particularly psychologically.

For many years now we have been aware of skin cancer and ageing and the need to stay out of the sun and use good sunscreens. But you may not understand the skin damage at a molecular level that is caused by the sun.

This is what I explain here, so you are armed with the knowledge to make the right decisions for your skin, to understand what sunburn is and not get too caught up in the excitement of glorious sunshine!
