December Featured Yogi:
For December, our calendar features Rose Whitehair. In 2010, Rose discovered the healing and balance that yoga provides. Her practice has helped her heal from hip replacement, scoliosis, thyroid issues, and work-related stress and trauma. She gained her yoga certification through Native Strength Revolution. She incorporates traditional Native American teachings from her grandfather who was a Medicine Man and her grandmother, a Dine' Herbalist.
As a yoga instructor, she guides classes for Native Strength Revolution, Running Medicine, and Rising Hearts, all Native American non-profits providing health, wellness and medicine through movement.
Rose's life beyond Yoga includes a background in Emergency Medical Services, Fire-Fighting on the Navajo (Dine) Nation, providing patient care in Emergency Rooms, and Emergency Response Team training. Currently, Rose provides training to all communities on how to prepare for and manage disaster response and recovery, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rose is working to bring Yoga to First Responders, Disaster Responders, Veterans, and those that struggle with work related PTSD through Changing Woman Yoga ,Rose's Yoga website. Asdz Ndleeh (Changing Woman) is the Dine' Ancestor/Holy One who changes with us through our bodies, our seasons. She embodies strength, nurturing, grace and transformation. She offers many teachings to those who listen.
Rose's dog Ruby, a chocolate/black lab mix, also earned a spot on the back page of our 2022 calendar. Ruby is learning how to become a certified trained Service Animal and is helping guide other dogs and puppies to become Emotional Support Dogs and Service Animals for Paws for Patriots.
