HorrorPack is now EIGHT YEARS OLD!

At the end of this year we will have shipped over 800 Horror movies to our subscribers!

Its time for us to ReVamp HorrorPack as a subscription service, a brand, and as an online store.

We've been hard at work figuring out the best way to provide an affordable subscription box for physical media in 2023 and beyond, during this high-cost and uncertain economy we all find ourselves in.

The pandemic and resulting changes to the world economy changed, well, everything.

Now Netflix has gotten out of the DVD and Blu-ray rental business, Ingram is stopping distributing physical media, and it was just announced that Best Buy is going to stop selling physical media.

Weve needed to change things for a while, but recent industry shifts mean were changing everything right now. Today.

New HorrorPack website and a whole new look!

We just launched a ground-up rebuild of the website to better support mobile and major improvements toyour account features when logged in. We will also be adding more payment options and other features in the weeks ahead.

DVD subscriptions are ending - Just DVD

It has become increasingly difficult to source quality titles that pass quality control for the DVD packs.

We have removed the ability to subscribe to the DVD pack, but will continue to ship DVD packs to existing active subscribersuntil the end of the year.

After the DVD pack ends, we still expect to be able to offer good DVD titles via the new and improved HorrorPack store at store.horrorpack.com

At this point, finding four decent DVD titles each month, along with getting them shipped in, checked in, and then sent to you has become a distraction from where our focus should and will be; building a quality Blu-ray HorrorPack for you.

PopUpPack and the HorrorPack Store

Staying horror-focused with HorrorPack, while offering all genres of film via PopUpPack is not something we can continue to do with reduced availability of titles and staff.

Our sister site, PopUpPack, will transition completely over to the HorrorPack store at store.HorrorPack.com

The HorrorPack store will offer all genres of film, but the focus will remain Horror.

More on this after the transition, but we do have some fun things in mind.

We have redesigned the store to be much easier to use both on desktop and mobile, and we are launching today along with our Scream Cleaning Horror Movie Sale, featuring over 250 titles and the always popular Mystery Bags!

Blu-Ray Subscriptions have new pricing

Well, with all the run-up, we all knew something was happening, but its not that bad.

Still, its a ReVamp and you have to invite us in.

We can no longer offer free shipping for our subscribers as we have for the last eight years. Shipping and handling is now going to be broken out as a separate amount from the base price of the HorrorPack Blu-ray subscription. As of today, all plans for new and existing customers are moving to new pricing, plus s&h.

For existing DVD and Blu-ray subscribers:

Cancel your existing subscription and sign up for one of the 3 new Blu-ray subscription tiers, which are:

One month recurring Blu-ray subscriptions will move up a little to $32.99 a month plus S&H. Billed monthly.

Three month recurring Blu-ray subscriptions will be $31.99 a month plusS&H. Billed quarterly.

Six month recurring Blu-ray subscriptions will be $30.99 a month plus S&H. Billed semi-annually

We removed the 12-month recurring Blu-ray optionseveral months ago when we started working on rebuilding the site.

12-month recurring Blu-ray subscriptions will be offered only to EXISTING 12-month subscribers to start with.

We will be sending out individual emails to anyone who does not upgrade as existing plans will not auto-renew, but it would really help us out if you logged in and switched over as soon as possible. Thank you.

Improvements to the Blu-Ray HorrorPack

Yeah, the price is going up a little but what are you getting for it?

We've been talking to our friends at independent labels, along with multiple filmmakers and industry stakeholders. After everyone is moved over to the new plans, we will be able to partner with our industry friends to deliver more first run Blu-rays and new releases,greatly increasing the quality and value of the Blu-ray HorrorPack.

We know we need to make more discs in house and strengthen our partnerships with all of the smaller (like us) labels and mainstream physical media winds down.This is a transition that is going to take several months and we look forward to you taking it with us.

4K UHD

We are aware it is a growing market for 4K UHDand are working on plans for some 4K or 4K/Blu-ray offerings in the new year. Please make sure you subscribe to our newsletter and add us to your contacts so you get our emails as we will be sending out surveys to figure out how to best serve the needs of the horror community.

Can HorrorPack survive when physical media is dying?

Yes!

Even though Netflix closed their DVD service and shipped their last discs, and Best Buy is getting out of physical media, Redbox is taking advantage of this and has announced plans to expand their offerings, which they should as we should. Blu-rays still have higher quality than a lot of streams, and many people cannot even stream high definition where they live. Blu-rays have extra features andyou're not renting access to a DVD or Blu-ray so when you OWN a copy you can watch the movie whenever you like.

We all have a love for and understanding of physical media and its not going away, but it is changing quickly and there will be less large companies in the market.

We see opportunity, we see growth, and we see a healthy future for HorrorPack. We look forward to bringing you enjoyable movies, on disc, for years to come.
