Mario Giribaldiand his family startedorganic grape growingback in 2001, obtaining their organic certification in 2004. This makes them one of the first organic wine producers in Italy.
For Mario and his family, making wines in a bio-dynamic way is a lifestyle. They continue to produce high quality wines, searching for authenticity, determined to make their wines as a true reflection of themselves, the area in which they live, with respect to the flora and fauna.
They create fabulous wines that reflect the quality that has come to be expected of the Piedmont wine region. This month we are taking a look at their Barbera Alma.
This wine has a glistening ruby colour, with a nose that expresses delicate notes of violet and sour cherries. Then, more red fruit on the palate. You'll detect touches of cherry, strawberry and just a whisper of blackberry. Beyond that, wonderfully integrated notes of star anise, leather and vanilla. Soft in the mouth, with smooth tannins and an excellent structural acidity that keeps this wine light and fresh.
