FROM AROUND THE WEB
Aspen says no to influencers. The weather man taking TikTok by storm (no pun intended, but, actually, pun very much intended). What happened to Something Navy? What if Bittersweet Symphony was released in the 80s? Matty Matheson (the Emmy-winning chef behindThe Bear) has a new cookbook released as a free download. The Supreme of cookies. How Faccia Brutto became Brooklyns favorite drink. For those cold winter NYC days, Upside launches a comfortingsoup pop-up. Are sports documentaries the greatest of dramas? Hate paywalls? Try 12ft or RemovePaywall. And what's really behind TikTok's trending "mob wife aesthetic"?
READING LIST
Welcome back to Baskforce member and resident #BookTok queenNicole Pearce(IG,TikTok), for her first Reading List section of the year. Also a big congrats to Nicole who recently became a mom! A bunch of recs coming your way, click the category links to see a video breakdown fromNicole's Instagram:
5 Small-Town Thrillers
The Night Swim by Megan Goldin - A true crime podcaster is in a small coastal town covering a rape trial, but gets roped in to covering another case that happened many years ago in the same town, are the cases connected?
What Lies in The Woods by Kate Alice Marshall - Something bad happens to 3 little girls living in a small town, then one of them returns years later and tries to figure out the truth about what happened to them as kids.
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn - A reporter returns to her small hometown following a murder and she tries to uncover the truth.
Locust Lane by Stephen Amidon - A girl turns up dead in a wealthy small town and the two teens who are with her that night are suspects.
All The Missing Girls by Megan Miranda - Two girls go missing in a small town 10 years apart, then the story is told in reverse.
Short Books to Finish in a Day or Two
The Grownup by Gillian Flynn - This is technically a short story, but whatever. It's so fun and quirky, it involves a con artist and a ghost and has one of the best opening lines of any book ever.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid - I was not into this book at all for the first 50 pages but I'm so glad I stuck it out. It's scary but you aren't going know why you're scared, and you won't get a full picture of everything that's happening until the end of the book.
Rabbit by Patricia Williams - The comedian Ms. Pat's memoir. She has a way of telling a story and then dropping an outrageous detail so casually. I really enjoyed this one!
Tender is The Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica - A dystopian world where there's government organized cannibalism, it's disturbing and hard to read at times but it's really good, and the ending ischefs kiss.
Death in Her Hands by Ottessa Moshfegh - It's a little weird and kind of a murder mystery, but more so about the creative process of writing a murder mystery. Loved it!

I've been sleeping like a baby with the ELMNT Triple Sleep magnesium capsules .
Still have the vase for an expensive candle, but don't want to pay $80 for a new one? Boojee has you covered.
One hour delivery on all the top fashion brands is now a thing thanks to Ole.
We went to an amazing wedding in a Mexican town called Merida that we'd never even heard of. Close to the ruins and beaches, it's an old-world city with beautiful churches and architecture that's also the second safest city in all of the Americas.
Mikey
Our toddler loved petting the stingrays at The Frost Science Center in Miami.
I'm always on the lookout for comfortable, versatile, sockless footwear. I've told you about Rivieras, but you alsoneed to check out Sabah (they also have a store in the West Village).
The St. Ember from Little Saints is a non-alcoholic "spirit" that, for me, is basically focus in a bottle thanks to a spike of Lion's Mane.
In 2009, along with my college roommates, I started The Boston Winter Ball as a way for young people to get involved in philanthropy in a fun way. The 16th Annual BWB is on February 10th, is incredibly fun, and last year raised $2.1 million for The Corey C. Griffin Foundation. Join if you can!
