Theme of the week
PRESSING AS A UNIT
Englands Euro 2024 performances so far have prompted much discussion, including analysis of their pressing. An effective press helps to win games, but if a team doesnt function as a unit in this area, thingscan go very wrong.
That is why weare pleased to recommend this fascinating coaching clinic on locking the opposition into areas of the pitch, delivered by former West Bromwich Albion Women head coach Jenny Sugarman. Now head ofLeicester Citys academy,Sugarman took tothe Coaches Voice tactics board to explain the key principles, as well as presenting a session designed to develop ateams ability to lock the opposition in.
We also havethree session plans on pressing as a unit, one for each age phase U8-U11, U12-U16, and U17+ taken from theCV Academy library. We hope you find them useful, and will be back next week with more great coaching resources for you!
