F-O-R-M Festival
(Vancouver)
We are a Creation Sponsor for this years F-O-R-M (Festival Of Recorded Movement) playing now until November 18th with a hybrid lineup of in-person and online programming. F-O-R-M celebrates the limitless possibilities of the body in motion. They screen and commission films by early-career artists that introduce audiences to expansive, genre-defying filmmaking.
We asked Sophia Mai Wolfe, Founder and Organizational Director of F-O-R-M, to share three short films from their vault. These films take varied creative approaches, whether through fashion, documentary, or music, and each artist brings a distinctive array of possibilities that encompass movement-on-screen.
Faux Solo by Ralph Escamillan and Nancy Lee(2016)
Empty space, a human body, and eight articles of clothing: a dialogue and collaboration between the body, sound, clothing, and the space.
Where We Meet by Karmella Cen Benedito De Barros and Lexi Mellish Mingo (2020)
Drawing on themes of double consciousness and experimental embodiment, this story explores the relationship between Blackness and the environment.
AION by Sevrin Emnacen-Boyd (2021)
Moulding together both forward and reversed movement while creating an ulterior continuity between night and day.
Premiering at F-O-R-M 2023! Tell The Truth (But Tell it Slant) by Joanne Joo-Yeong Park. This new work was filmed at The Cultch by our Digital Content Director Cameron Anderson. Watch it at the Festival on November 18, or on our website in December.

Queer and Trans Play Reading Series
Created by Zee Zee Theatre (Vancouver)
There are only two livestreams left in this incredible series of play readings by Queer and Trans playwrights! So far, viewers have tuned in from big cities and small towns, across nine provinces and one territory. From Fredericton to Whitehorse, Sooke to Kitchener; emerging playwrights are getting immediate feedback from audience members across the country.
Zee Zee Theatre has established this innovative new model for play creation and dissemination, in order to ensure more equitable representation of 2SLGBTQ+ artists and stories on Canadian stages, deepen the bonds of professional artists and collaborators across the country, and ultimately further equality for all queer and trans people. We're proud to be part of building capacity for this national livestreaming initiative, and contribute to growing a supportive community where new artistic voices can flourish.
Dont miss the last two play readings in the Series:
November 12: Peaches by Elio Zarrillo at Theatre Outr (Lethbridge)

November 18: Seven and One Heart by Smokii Sumac at Imago Theatre (Montreal)
Sev is wrestling with what it means to be a settler on his friend One Hearts territory, so he asks him about how to do a land acknowledgment, taking them both on a journey across worlds.
