The latest vintage of Black Cordons Sonoma Coast Chardonnay has arrived. We offered up the 2018 earlier this year and it became one of our most re-requested wines yet.

Twice named Wine Personality of the Year by Robert Parker, he is a visionary and a pioneer! He was hired by Robert Mondavi back in the day and went on to be responsible for some of the biggest names in California wine - Opus One, Simi Winery, Peter Michael, Lewis Cellars before starting his own label, consulting business as well as a series of wineries internationally.
Besides being a winemaking virtuoso, Paul Hobbs is known for his uncanny ability to seek vineyards and AVAs that are perfectly suited for the varietal in question. He said, The true character of a site is only revealed through the work and determination of tending each vineyard with meticulous care and vinifying with minimalist winemaking techniques that fully express the terroir.
Sonoma Coast is one of the places in the world that makes the best Chardonnay. All the greats pick this AVA for chardonnay because it helps create fresh, vibrant wines.
And Hobbs stamp is all over this wine. Pure California Chardonnay in the style that pleases the crowd. Lush and mouthcoating with rich flavors of peach cany rings, baked apple, young coconut and touches of vanilla. It delivers a perfectly balanced array of bright tropical fruits and cozy baking spices with some toasty oak and buttery brioche in the mix. Aged in mostly used oak with a small amount (30%) new French oak. This is a buoyant and elegant example of Hobbs style. And at what price?! Bacon wrapped scallops, anyone?!
