Three More Years of Windows Server 2012 Extended Security Updates

Microsoft has announced that it will continue to provide Extended Security Updates (ESUs) program for Windows Server 2012 until October 2026. This extension gives administrators more time to either upgrade their systems or transition to Microsofts Azure platform.

Previously, mainstream support for Windows Server 2012 concluded in October 2018, but Microsoft has decided to extend this period by five more years. This move was aimed to facilitate customers in their transition to newer versions of Windows Server. As of the October 2023 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft ceased providing technical support and updates for issues that impact the stability or usability of devices running on this operating system.

However, since transitions of this nature are resource-intensive, Microsoft has decided to provide updates for three additional years to give administrators more runway to upgrade their Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, or Windows Embedded Server 2012 R2.
