ABOUT MAST CELL DISEASE - 1. Mast cells are normal part of our immune system, releasing chemicals such as histamine, prostaglandins, and more in a process called degranulation. 2. In mast cell disease, these chemicals often become excessive and can cause multi-system inflammatory reactions, ranging from mild to life threatening. 3. MCAD is an umbrella term for all Mast Cell Activation Diseases. 4. In mast cell disease, one can have too many mast cells (Mastocytosis) or have mast cells erupt at inappropriate times (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)). 5. Triggers can vary and are often different from traditional allergens. 6. There are numerous supportive treatments for patients, but there is no cure.

Because pursuing treatment and avoiding triggers is expensive, Super T's Mast Call Foundation also provides grants! They are the only nonprofit in the mast cell disease community providing financial support to patients helping to offset their living and medical expenses. They also offer a grant for lodging expenses and medical copays associated with seeking a new mast cell disease diagnosis.
