More to think about than just rim weight
No different than finding the right car based on one's driving habits, number of passengers and terrain driven, finding the right discus is based on how one usually throws, how strong they are and how perfected their release is. Too many times coaches and athletes focus on "rim weight" when deciding what discus is right for them and that can be a big mistake. Rim weight is one characteristic of a discus, but not the only one.
Today, coaches and athletes search out 86%, 88%, and 90% plus discs believing that they will automatically improve their distance. The world record discus throw of 74 meters by Juergen Schultz was with a disc that had an 83% rim weight. So how does that fit into the mindset of more rim weight is better?
The truth is that the greater the rim weight, the more force it takes to rotate that disc. Arguably, most athletes that are handed a higher rim weight disc aren't strong enough to throw it. So if rim weight isn't the determining factor in further throws for the vast majority of throwers, then what is?
The answer is to match the right characteristics for the right thrower. Although three of them have an almost identical rim weight, each Denfly disc is built differently. The descriptions below will help identify the best discus for the thrower and help them reach their full potential.

At first glance people can tell right away there is something different about the Skymaster. But their conclusion is often wrong. They look at it and think this disc has very little rim weight, but that could not be further from truth.
The rim weight is still there but is under the plate, centered between the top and bottom. This creates a fly-wheel effect and dampens errant releases. To understand, think about rolling a car tire down the street. All the weight of the sidewalls exaggerates the wobbles. But then picture rolling a coin. The coin doesn't wobble as all the weight is concentrated in the middle.
So put this disc in the hand of the strong thrower who doesn't have the smoothest release and watch the wobbles stabilize. With a better flight the disc is more aerodynamic and results in a further throw for the strong thrower with an imperfect release.
Replaceable Plates!
With the high cost of a well-made discus, it's comforting to know that the Ultimate Spin, Hyper Super Spin, Skymaster and Space Traveler all have replaceable plates. So when a throw lands and hits a rock, it's not the end of the world.
The Denfly Comp Spin
So where does this disc fit in the progression as a developing discus thrower? That's a great question. It has more to do with affordability than it does with performance and relating to the other Denfly discs. This disc is meant to be a quality discus for multiple styles and levels of thrower. As there are similar traits in this disc to the full line of Denfly discs, it should be thought of as a great performance disc for developing throwers.
