A Napa Valley Cellar Find for the Ages
Todays offer is like discovering a dusty 1959 Porsche in your neighbors barn. Its the kind of thing that just doesnt happen.
Heres why the 2004 Young Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Premium Estate is so special: We have never been able to offer you a library Napa Valley Cabernet with 20 years of age under its belt. Sure, weve tasted plenty over the years, but nothing has ever wowed us like this onewhich is why we bought every last bottle on the spot.
This is a dream come true: a perfectly-cellared small-batch Cabmade by a winemaker trained at Robert Mondavi Winery, Beaulieu Vineyard, and Sterling and hailing from a Napa vintage Wine Spectator rated 95that is not just still alive, but really kicking.

We knew our VP of Wine Eduardo Dingler was up to something when he brought out this bottle and poured. The room fell silent as we took in the wines dark plum, cherry, and fig aromas, along with dried violets and hints of aniseed and tobacco. Savoring the vibrant, supple palate with no hard edges to its black fruit and spice, someone wondered aloud: Where the heck did you find this?
Young Ridge has been hiding in plain sight since 1995, when founders LeRoy and Patty Young produced their first Cabernet from their two acres of vines in east Napa, planted in 1992. Not long after, they purchased a 99-acre vineyard in Napa Countys Pope Valley, where they built a winery production facility. They hired winemaker Julianna Beckmann Gosling, who learned her craft through stints at Robert Mondavi Winery, Beaulieu Vineyard, and Sterling Vineyards. She absolutely nailed their 2004, a year with a small but otherwise perfect crop in Napa Valley.
This was an easy decision. There wasnt much left of this library wine in the Youngs cellar, so we knew we had to move fast. Whats more, since 2018, this wine has garnered FOUR consecutive 95-point scores on Cellartracker.com, with a cumulative rating of 94.2. By comparison, 2004 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection stands at 92.9. That kind of quality for $40 is super rare. Because we expect a feeding frenzy, we kindly ask that you restrict your purchase to 12 bottles.
Wine Access Tasting Note
A dusty ruby color, with a slight garnet tint. The captivating aromas are led by a realm of dark plum, cherry, and fig, along with a basket of dried violets and hints of aniseed and tobacco. On the palate, a joyful reminder of wines longevity, with dark fruit, spice, and herbal notes carried on silky tannins that deliver a generous finish. An excellent example of gracefully-aged and well-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now2025.
