Earlier this summer, we were granted an all-access pass to the Highlands cellar. Today, were thrilled to offer you a limited back-vintage allocation of the 2016 Highlands Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Coombsville.

The 2016 Napa Valley vintage was rated 98 points by Wine Spectatorplacing it in Napas top three years ever. This bottlefrom a stellar site near Palmaz in the same AVA that stars like Paul Hobbs, Andy Erickson (Favia), and Meteor are making famousdisplays the seasons fruit-driven, ripe, hedonistic style, and it is drinking beautifully six years after harvest.

To create their Reserve Cabernet, the duo tapped their friend Tom Farella, a 40-year veteran grower and winemaker in Coombsville. Farellas such a pioneer in the area that he wrote the petition in 2009 to have Coombsville formally recognized as an appellationand in 2011, it became Napas 16th AVA, renowned for a moderate climate thats courtesy of its proximity to San Pablo Bay. Its one of Napas hottest-trending AVAs, and over the years its attracted luminaries like Tony Soter, Hobbs, Meteor, and Purlieu.

Farella NAILED the 2016 vintage in this wine, conjuring dark-fruit aromas wrapped in layers of violet and cassis, accented by pencil shavings and spice. The mouthfeel is rich and powerful but also complex and elegant, showing flavors of dark cherry and mulberry. In the cellar, this 2016 Highlands Cab will cruise another 510 years. Around here, we expect this reserve-level Cab, at more than half off, to vanish quickly. Dont hesitate!
