Top Vintage, a Decade of Age
Vintage-dated wines have always carry extra prestige in Champagne: Most producers make them only in the best years, and by rule they have to be aged longer than their common non-vintage siblings. As a result, theyre raremaking up less than 5% of all Champagneand often pricy.
Thats why we were thrilled to score the 2012 Jacques Lorentfrom one of our members favorite producers AND one of Champagnes greatest-ever vintagesfor our inaugural Champagne Club shipment. Its also why we immediately turned our attention to getting enough to offer to as many Wine Access members as we could.
It wasnt easyafter all, the club is built on the kind of fascinating, elusive, over-delivering bubbies that dont just fall into your lapbut it was well worth it. Lorents Brut shows a deep gold color, with a nose of sliced Asian pear, lemon curd, pie crust and jasmine. The palate is ripe and creamy, with fine-textured bubbles suggesting longer aging but also carrying plenty of energy.
For a decade-plus aged Champagne, you simply cant do betterespecially since today, its coming at the price of a NV bubbly!

2012 was the kind of vintage that you cant have enough of in your cellar. The season was defined by a perfect August and September, so growers were able to harvest grapes at perfect ripenessa rare occurrence in chilly Champagne. This bottle puts those perfect conditions on proud display.
A cooperative of 250 small Champagne growerseach one often farming just two or three acrescultivated the fruit that went into Jacques Lorents 2012 vintage Champagne. Led by 45% each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, rounded out with a splash of Meunier, its blossomed beautifully in the decade since it was harvested.
Notably, Jacques Lorent aged their 2012 vintage bottling for six years on the lees before disgorgement, which is TWICE whats required of vintage-dated Champagne. And after that, they continued to hold it back, allowing it to develop in bottle before they deemed it ready for release. As youll see, this bottle is enjoying its moment right now.
Wine Access Tasting Note
Deep golden color with silver streaks through the mousse. The nose offers sliced Asian pear, lemon curd, pie crust, and jasmine. A ripe and creamy palate displays a voluminous mouthfeel redolent of white flowers and honeyed brioche. The bubbles are soft yet persistent, showing a finer texture, which hints at the long aging, although the mousse still has plenty of energy. What an excellent bottle of bubbly! Drink now2027.
