That quality has made Brochard our top-selling Sancerre of this decadeand thats without us having sold the 2021, when yields were so low (and demand from French restaurants so high) that we couldnt secure any for our members.

Situated on the eastern edges of the Loire Valleys Sancerre AOC, Domaine Hubert Brochardrun by the fifth and sixth generations of the familyis one of only a small number of Sancerre producers who continue to harvest most of their grapes by hand. From their winery in the tiny hamlet of Chavignol, the family has always produced classically styled Sancerre that benefits from the range of Sauvignon Blanc across their diverse holdings.

With an average vine age over 30 years, the 2022 Tradition comes from six different communes in Sancerre, capturing the regions most distinctive terroirs all in one bottle. Powerful, mineral, and buoyed by a keen-edged line of fresh acidity, the grapes character is preserved by vinification in stainless steel, resulting in a wine that zips across the palate.

Pale silver-straw color, with streaks of green in the glass. Sharp and clean aromatics of lime peel, grapefruit blossom, chopped tarragon, and fennel bulb, with wet stones and minerals. Racy and vibrant on the palate, with excellent agility and poise. There is so much limestone-chalky mineral character to behold. Pointed and clean, this Sancerre shows its French elegance, yet its brisk and directional, with a long chalky finish. Drink now2027.
