Of course, old vines arent just for show, because as they age they produce less and less fruit. That means all that trademark Zinfandel flavor gets crowded into fewer and fewer grapes as the years go on, so Paganis grapes pack the kind of concentration that only ancient vines can provide.

Ridge has made Zinfandel from this Sonoma Valley site for 30 years, and the fog-filled enclave shone in 2021. The sites cooler climate played off a warm August to allow slow, even ripening of the Paganis Zinfandel (along with its Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet, which give structure and color, respectively), yielding a wine that combines intense fruit and elegant aromatics like few others.
