We tasted through literally hundreds of value white wines from all over the world to find those tremendous value options for everyone looking to beat the heat with some crisp and zippy Summer Sippers. And I have to say... unfortunately there are a lot of not very well made white wines out there. I won't mention any names, but some of the samples we received were barely drinkable. Like we say around here, you gotta kiss a lot of toads to find that Prince! And then this fresh fruit driven white, loaded with green apple and lime zest (and just the right touch of floral and nutty character) ended up in our glass... and right at first whiff, we knew we had a winner.

You see, so many Pinot Grigio wines can be very light and simple in character... and there is nothing wrong with that. But when I have a glass of PG on a hot Summer day, I want a wine that actually tastes like something. Not just a crushable high acid wine that has a hint of fruit to it and that can be... well... boring. And that was what we all experienced with this dandy, hailing from the Terre Siciliane region. It has just a bit of bottle age to it adding the slightest complex notes of petrol and marzipan, which are just so interesting combined with the focused fruit and florals present on the nose and palate.

But the best part about this wine is the VALUE!! Most Pinot Grigio options at this price point are quite light and simple, lacking the fruit and concentration that this wine has. So for Under $15, and $12.99 by the caseby the case, this has now become my new House White Wine... and once you try it I am sure it will become yours as well! But don't wait, it was a vintage closeout deal and we scooped up every last bottle (not nearly as much as we would have like to get) which I can't imagine makes it through the day.
