HOW HEPA FILTERS WORK
Air is forced through a dense network of fibers that traps particles.

Water can damage the delicate fibers, compromising their effectiveness.
Introducing water to your filter can lead to mold or bacteria growth.
WHAT IS A PREFILTER?
It's the outside of your filter (white clip-on screen for the 75i, black velcro for other units). Your prefilter catches large dust and particulates before they get to your HEPA filter.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PREFILTER
Remove the panel on your unit and vacuum the prefilter while its still inside. Check your filter regularly to determine what cleaning schedule works for you.
Your filter must be replaced when air isnt flowing properly anymore, when its captured so much that its air cleaning capability is significantly decreased. Cleaning the prefilter allows the HEPA to continue to work effectively over the entirety of its useful life.
