PS- In the event you're interested, here's a story I've told before about a person who gave a sh!t about me.

When I was 19, I had a camp director who was a public school teacher. The night before all the campers came for the summer, he gathered all the counselors together at the camps fire circle. We sat down, sweaty, mostly bored, and gearing up for a long speech about rules and regulations, what to do in case kids get homesick, etc. Instead what I got was a piece of advice that I have thought about every single day since and guides every decision I make as a husband, dad, and business owner. The only thing you need to do to be good at this job, to be good with these kids, he said, is to give a sh!t. EVERYTHING else comes from that.

It sounds so simple and dumb, but I. Was. Hooked. This guy spoke my language. It helped me to be a good camp counselor that summer (if a bit of a rule breaker:), and every good thing in my life as an adult since has come from that offhanded piece of advice from a teacher. No lesson plan, no curriculum, no chalkboards. Thirty seconds that changed the path of my life.
