About a month ago, I decided to try something different. I wrote a very raw, unpolished, straight-from-the-heart email sharing some updates with you about HLC.
About a month ago, I decided to try something different. I wrote a very raw, unpolished, straight-from-the-heart email sharing some updates with you about HLC.
I figured you might find it interesting to hear a bit of behind-the-scenes insight into everything that weve been up to in Candle Land. We received so many positive responses, that Im planning to make this a more regular thing.
With that said welcome to the second edition ofConfessions of a Candle Snob.
A few of the samples we're currently testing!
Earlier this morning, I googled when is the first day of summer? (It was this past Thursday. I genuinely had no idea.) Sometimes, because of the nature of our business, I feel like Im living 6-12 months ahead of whatever season it currently is.
By the time summer rolls around, were already in the thick of holiday. For example, today Im focused on figuring out where the hell Im going to find a Christmas tree in mid-August for our holiday campaign photoshoot. If anyone knows, hit me up.
A "Holiday" state of mind in the middle of summer. Currently burning: the delicious LODGE candle that we launched last winter.
Were also deep into planning what our launches will be for next year. This morning I had an epiphany about a new fragrance trend I foresee happening, and Im excited to incorporate that into a candle were releasing in the Spring.
As much as I love planning so far ahead, it often means that Im never really living in the moment. So Im working on that.
Matt and I have a few fun trips planned in the coming months, which Im really looking forward to. Were heading to Nantucket, Cape Cod, and Marthas Vineyard in July, Napa in August, and Italy in September. When youre running a fragrance brand inspired by travel and hotels, vacations also serve as R&D trips. :-)
A few housekeeping updates for you!
- Can you guess what causes a candle brand founder to have a meltdown? A heat wave!Please bear with us this week and next as we navigate the sweltering temperatures across the country. Note that shipments may be delayed.
- We are completely sold out of our Poolside candle (clearly the demand for it was greater than we anticipated!) The good news is thatNeiman Marcusstill has a few available, so Id recommend picking it up there. It wont be restocked on our site until next summer.
- OurPRIDE candleis officially back! For every purchase, were donating $5 to Family Equality, which is an organization that means a lot to us.
- If youre based in NYC, you can also pick it up in person this month atStoney Clover Lanein the West Village (376 Bleecker St.)
