Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy HOT Days Of Summer

Miriam here. I think I'll keep today's note brief.

I'll be honest, I've got a bit of a block writing this week's newsletter. June is a rough month for me due to past grief, and, unfortunately, my family (immediate and extended) is grieving a new loss this year. Emotions are rampant one day and colorless the next. But the heaviness is consistent.

The heat also makes everything feel more claustrophobic than usual. Yes, I am from Mississippi, so (technically) I should be used to the heat, but no matter where I am, it's still difficult. That heavy, sticky air suffocates, and I know in my heart I'm built for cooler days.

I hope y'all are finding ways to fight the heat at the pool or the beach, and picking up a great read to dive into. We have paperbacks ready (on the recommendations of our staff) to be tucked into your carry-on. I'm catching up on my reading, staying indoors, and heading to bed earlier than usual to fight off the restless insomnia I had in past summers.
