1 - Bathe Like An Egyptian
Cleopatra was known for her milk and honey baths. This simple combo can help soothe skin and impart a radiant glow. The recipe is simple:
One cup of milk (preferably whole milk)
1/4 cup of manuka honey
1/2 cup of magnesium flakes (Optional)
A couple drops of your favorite essential oil (Optional)
Simply combine all ingredients and pour into the bath under running water.
2 - Sweet, Sweet Exfoliation
A good scrub can do wonders for how you feel and a sugar honey scrub is a great recipe, especially for those with sensitive skin. Recipe as follows:
1/2 cup oil of choice (we like olive or coconut)
1/2 cup organic sugar
2 tablespoons of manuka honey
1-2 drops of manuka oil (Optional)
Simply mix all ingredients together in a bowl or jar and you're all done!
3 - Deep Sleep Is In Your Future
Dr. Ron Fessenden has written about how honey can help with sleep. He recommends taking it before bedtime after your glycogen is depleted during wakefulness, which is associated with increased energy demand.
Honey before bed has been shown to slowly release glycogen, which you need for essential body functions during sleep, reducing how often you wake up.
Compared to melatonin, studies show it is an effective and affordable intervention to enhance sleep quality with no associated adverse effects.
Like sugar, honey can cause a rise in insulin and release serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to improve mood, relieve stress, boost your energy levels, promote and help you fall asleep, and ensure you wake up well-rested.
All you need is 1 - 2 teaspoons of raw manuka honey before bed or, use the classic warm milk and honey trick as added fats can also aid in restful sleep.
