JENS + Tour de France History

In the 2001 Tour de France, Jens Voigt experienced a memorable incident when he crashed and had to ride a children's bike for 15km down the Col de Peyresourde before being helped by the other riders to keep pace on the flats. Jens' determination and the support he received from fellow riders showcased his exceptional resilience and fortitude.

Jens' success in the Tour de France included a stage 4 Team Time Trial victory in 2001, significantly improving his position in the General Classification (GC). This achievement was followed by Jens claiming the coveted Yellow Jersey after stage 7. In the same tour, Jens emerged victorious in stage 16 from Castelsarrasin to Sarran, crossing the finish line with a time of 5:27:11.

In the 2005 Tour de France, Jens once again demonstrated his prowess by joining a breakaway in Stage 9 from Grardmer to Mulhouse, securing a 3rd place finish on the day, which propelled him 1 minute and 50 seconds ahead of his closest rival in the General Classification. This outstanding performance earned Jens his second Yellow Jersey.

During Stage 13 of the 2006 Tour de France from Bziers to Montlimar, Jens showcased his attacking prowess by initiating an early breakaway along with five other riders. In a thrilling finale, Jens outpaced Oscar Pereiro to clinch the stage win, finishing a remarkable 29 minutes ahead of the peloton.

It would be impossible to sum up the 17 year experience in just a single phrase. However, #jensie managed the impossible andencapsulated it with "Shut Up Legs!". This phrase personifies the inner dialogue of every rider, as they push their bodies to the physical limit in the pursuit of victory - all for the chance, hope and possibility of winning in France.
