Dear Conservancy Supporter,
Coral reefs are one of the most diverse habitats in the world. They cover less than 1% of the world's surface area, yet they support 25% of all marine life. They also play an important role for land, protecting shorelines from the full force of damaging storm surges.
But coral reefs are in serious danger. We've already lost 50% of reefs globally and if we don't act, scientists predict that we could lose up to 90% of coral reefs by 2050.
That's why in honor of World Oceans Day, all donations will be matched SIX times up to $180,000. Will you give right now to make 6x the difference?
Here's just one way your gift could help.
As the ocean warms, heatwaves are becoming more frequent and more severe causing coral bleaching and death. To help give the remaining reefs a chance against these heatwaves, The Nature Conservancy and our partners are now studying the secrets of "super reefs."
These diverse coral communities are more resistant to damaging rises in ocean temperature. Scientists are working to identify where these super reefs are located and why they are more resilient answers that will inform reef conservation around the world.
We are in a race against time to find and protect coral reefs before they are lost forever. And it's an example of the collaborative conservation work we need to urgently ramp up around the world.
You make critical work like this possible. Will you give now and have 6x the impact for conservation?
With threats to nature growing every day, we must do more to safeguard our oceans and the vital habitats that sustain life underwater and on land. That's why we've set an ambitious goal to conserve more than 10% of the world's ocean area by the end of this decade but we need your support if we're going to reach it.
Help us celebrate World Oceans Day with a gift that will go 6x farther. Give now.
Together, we can do even more to preserve our oceans and other ecosystems. Thank you for taking action to protect nature now.
With gratitude,
