What materials can I use with a Glowforge?
The short answer:All the materials you know and love plus hundreds more!
The long answer:Glowforge Plus, Pro, Plus HD, and Pro HD use a CO2 laser to cut materials like wood, fabric, leather, paper, acrylic, rubber, Corian, food, and many, many more. Glowforge Pro and Plus can also engrave all of the above, as well as glass, coated metal, marble, anodized aluminum, titanium, some phones, tablets, laptops, and more.
Glowforge Aura and Glowforge Spark use a blue, 6 watt, solid-state laser, so there are certain material capabilities that are important to know. Glowforge Aura and Spark can safely work with most laser-compatible materials including wood, acrylic, leather, veneer, paper, cardboard, denim, mylar, rubber, cork, sandpaper, food, stone, slate, titanium, aluminum, marble, ceramic tile, Corian, and hundreds more! Glowforge Aura and Spark are not compatible with glass, clear acrylic, white acrylic, blue acrylic, vinyl, or Draftboard materials.
Using the wrong material can damage your Glowforge or lead to a less-than-stellar experience, and using vinyl will immediately destroy your laser. When in doubt, we recommend using our line of made-for-Glowforge Proofgrade Materials for worry-free, guaranteed prints.
Are Glowforge lasers hard to use?
