As the final day of 2023 unfolds, I feel compelled to share a heartfelt message from all of us on the team. This year was a bit of a rocky year for us and back in August, we reached out to you our United By Blue family with an honest update about where we stood.
The response to that transparency has been nothing short of extraordinary. The numerous "Out of Stock" signs on our website are a testament to the incredible support you've shown us this holiday season. We're now pouring our energy into restocking and developing new products for the coming year, but the sheer magnitude of your support has been both humbling and inspiring.
At its core, I believe it is a testament to the strength of our community and to the growing momentum to unite around a shared goal: leaving the world a better place than we found it.
In response to the overwhelming support and guided by the leadership of our new Director of Impact (more details below), Im proud to share that we have already committed to cleaning up over four times (4x!) the amount of trash compared to our 1lb commitment for each item sold. As we look forward to 2024, our dedication to this cause is more passionate and focused than ever.
Embodying Our Mission: Introducing BaileyOur commitment to bringing people together for a greater cause is exemplified by the newest member of our team, Bailey Weinhold, who joined us in October as the Director of Sustainability and Impact.Bailey's update in her own words:"I'm excited to lead initiatives that will greatly exceed our goal of removing one pound of trash for every product sold. In 2024, we're launching major cleanups across the country, partnering with local organizations to make a significant impact.Join us for cleanups like the Miami River Community Cleanup were conducting in partnership with Debris Free Oceans, and the high-yield river cleanup in Pittsburgh in collaboration with Allegheny Cleanways. These efforts will not only prevent thousands of pounds of waste from polluting our waters but also set a new standard for our environmental commitment.We need your support to continue making a difference, and are excited to share additional information as some of our 2024 projects continue to fall into place!A Look Ahead with GratitudeReflecting on the months since our relaunch this past August and looking towards 2024, I am profoundly grateful for your continued support and enthusiasm. Weve shared with you how proud we are of having cleaned up over 5.3 million pounds of trash to date, but as we begin the new year we are humbled by our challenges, yet more energized than ever.With focus, partnerships (stay tuned for our first new collaboration in January), and the support of our community (you!), we are excited about opportunities to not only continue to do good but to actually multiply our impact on our world.
