News From The Cow YardRoll On Green Machine! We combine for ourselves and two neighbors. The extra income helps keep the green machine maintained and running. It is said to plan for several thousand a year in upkeep. It's seems crazy until you get an up close view of ALL the running parts. A car repair is a cake walk. The equipment came home last Monday night. Both neighbors done . Just one of our corn fields left. At 28% moisture it is way to wet. The co-op won't even take it because it would cost a fortune to dry it for storage. It is now a waiting game. After talking to several others the consensus it that the drought messed up the normal process of the plant drying down. Many others are seeing odd moisture readings in their fields too. I've spent this past couple weeks keeping things running at home. Steven does his chores and leaves for the day, getting home as I shut off the barn lights for the night. I've been busy doing a baptism cake for the newest grand daughter, a birthday cake for one of our high school employees and watching for calves. The last two expected calves arrived last Wednesday.
