Dear friends,
I truly hope this newsletter finds you well and in good spirits. Today, I want to share some heart-opening exercises that have helped me experience more joy and love.
As someone who has supported many struggling with anxiety and depression, I know first-hand how easy it can be to close off your heart and shut out the world. After all, it is a natural and understandable reaction, a form of self-protection and soul-preservation as we deal with life's pain and challenges. However, the great news is that these exercises can help break down those barriers and let more love and positivity in.
When I work with a client, we first dig into the heaviness and dark within, to give it space to be explored and seen. And then, after we shifted this painful content from the dark into the light, I frequently invite my client to practice one of those exercises below to create an internal shift into feeling alive, awake, and loving:
Heart breath: Take a few deep breaths and imagine your breath flowing in and out of your heart center. As you inhale, imagine your heart expanding with love and light. As you exhale, imagine any tension leaving your body. Repeat for a few minutes or as long as you like.
Heart-centered gratitude: Take a few moments to focus on the things you're grateful for in your life. Imagine each item or person as a little ball of light in your heart. Feel the warmth and love that comes with gratitude.
Heart-to-heart connection: This can be done alone or with a partner. Place your hand over your heart and imagine sending love and light to yourself or your partner. Feel the connection that comes from sharing love and positivity.
Heart-centered visualization: Close your eyes and imagine a situation or person that brings you joy and love. Visualize yourself in that situation or with that person, feeling the warmth and happiness that come with it.
I encourage you to try one or more of these exercises for yourself. You can do them anytime, anywhere; they only take a few minutes. Choose one of them right now and spend a minute practicing it. Can you feel the difference? Can you feel the space that opened within you, the opening of the heart, the possibilities you now conceive? That is the opening of life.
As you experience the benefits of these exercises, you may also want to share them with others you feel need them. What a beautiful gift to give someone, a way to open their heart and bring all those blessings into their life too.
