In 1992, a dream took shape in the form of Sunny's Hair, a humble beauty supply store on the corner of Lake & Lyndale in Minneapolis, MN.
This dream was nurtured by Sunny Memberr, a Nigerian immigrant and former industrial engineer whose determination and passion breathed life into what would become much more than a store it became a thriving community.
Sunny's Hair grew from its roots as a local store into a beacon in the beauty industry, spanning five locations, gracing prominent magazines and TV shows, and connecting with people worldwide. This incredible journey was woven together not just by Sunny but also by his wife, Lisa, and their daughters a true family endeavor.
This April, we faced the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Sunny. The subsequent months have been a period of deep reflection and mourning. We grappled with loss, cherishing memories, and contemplating the future of a business so closely intertwined with our family's story.
Family businesses are often as complex as they are emotional, and deciding the best path forward was not easy. In June, we bid a heartfelt farewell to our Minneapolis store, a decision that weighed heavily on our hearts.
Today, I am reaching out to share another significant transition. We are saying goodbye to sunnyshair.com as it has existed for years. Moving forward, all orders will be processed throughlegendsbysunnys.com, part of our Mesa store. This change, while significant, is made with a commitment to maintain the legacy of Sunny's Hair. We will continue offering our cherished products - Sunny's Indian Hair, Legends Wigs and Frontals, and Le Prive hair extensions - under this new, unified platform.
I have personally overseen sunnyshair.com since 2007, and it has been a journey full of learning, growth, and connection. In recent times, my focus shifted to a professional-only brand, and although my attention was divided, I held onto sunnyshair.com, buoyed by the memories and the community we built together.
As a family, we gathered to decide how best to honor our 30-year legacy and serve you, our cherished clients. We realized that simplicity was the key a return to the core values that Sunny himself embodied.
My mother, Lisa Memberr, and I want to extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and patience over this past year.
