Early Spring Yunnan "Bao Hong" Dragon Well Green Tea Spring 2024
"Bao Hong" tea is from Yi Liang county of Yunnan. Its leaf is quite small and it carries a high level of aroma. The leaves are always picked when very small and fresh during a two hour window of time in the early morning of mid-February. The aroma is intense and fresh. It was first grown in the Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907) at the same time a Buddhist Monastery was built on Bao Hong Mountain. The original tea plant was brought by a visiting monk from Fujian. This tea has been growing on Bao Hong Mountain since that time (over 1200 years ago). Yi Liang county has a very moderate climate with a mean daily temperature of 16.3 degrees Celsius, and an average yearly rainfall of about 950 centimeters. The Bao Hong Mountain tea garden is an average of 1550-1630 meters above sea level, where it is often shrouded in mist diffusing the sunlight just enough to create a perfect light balance. Bao Hong mountain is a remote area of Yunnan where the tea plants enjoy a natural unadulterated environment. The tea itself is full and plump but small. It has a high level of fragrance and the tea soup is thick and awash with the little hairs that grow on the tea leaves. Comparable in many aspects to a Dragon Well, but unique in its own right.

Tai Ping Hou Kui Green Tea from Anhui Spring 2024
Our Tai Ping Hou Kui is grown in Hou Gang village near Huangshan Mountain in Anhui. It was harvested in mid-April (first flush) from a decades-old tea garden at about 300 meters. The tea is hand-fried in a wok for several minutes (kill-green) and then roasted in a four drawer system at progressively lower temperatures. Roasting is achieved in about an hour, after which the tea leaves are laid out by hand on a smooth piece of paper or fabric. Next, the leaves are pressed between the paper using wooden blocks. Finally, the tea is low-temperature roasted to further reduce moisture content so that it can be stored sealed, thereby maintaining freshness and extending the shelf life of this beautifully unique tea. Our Tai Ping Hou Kui is a medium-high grade that delivers an incredible price to value ratio and is sure not to disappoint even seasoned drinkers of Tai Ping Hou Kui. The taste is fresh and sweet and delivers 3 to 5 infusions.
White Peony "Bai Mu Dan" White Tea from Dehong Spring 2024
This tea is made from a unique Yunnan varietal called "Chang Ye Bai Hao" which is a hybrid of Jinggu Camellia Taliensis and Yunnan large leaf assamica. The tea was plucked and processed in late March and early April from tea bushes growing in the Mangshi region of Dehong prefecture (far southwestern Yunnan). The tea is processed much like a Fujian White Peony white tea (shade withering and air drying) and is also a 1 leaf to 1 bud ratio pluck. The taste is fruity with honey sweetness, with a subtle umami grassiness. The aroma is strong and heady, the mouth-feel is full and thick, with a long-lasting sweetness. We recommend 90C water for this tea with initially short steeps. If over-steeped (or if the water is too hot) in the early steeps it could become somewhat bitter.

High Mountain Red Ai Lao Mountain Black Tea Spring 2024
High mountain tea grown at 2000 meters on Ai Lao Shan in Zhenyuan area of Simao. Picked and processed only from the first flush of spring, this black tea is lightly oxidized and processed similarly to Taiwanese black tea or Wu Yi Rock tea. There is still a greenish tinge left to the leaves! The brewed tea is rich and thick with hints of dried Longan fruit with a protracted mouth feeling! The tea is grown at almost 2000 meters making it one of the highest black teas we offer. Mr. Guo was born and raised in central Taiwan and his father had a black tea factory there. Mr. Guo traveled to Thailand and eventually decided on Yunnan. He was always a big Pu-erh tea fan and decided to spend time learning about Ai Lao area pu-erh since it's one of the remotest and untouched places in all Yunnan. He met many local pu-erh growers and worked with one in particular (Mr. Feng) to introduce a Taiwanese style processing which marries black tea and oolong in a sweet and fruity style!
Feng Qing #17 Pure Bud Golden Needle Black Tea Spring 2024
#17 Feng Qing is a relatively new varietal first planted in the late 1990's. It's a hybrid of local Feng Qing Taliensis and Assamica. The leaves and buds are huge, and our pure bud pick is just large downy buds expertly processed with a light level of oxidation to produce a clean tasting balanced tea with notes of malt and chocolate. Sweet and thick-bodied tea that is hard to over-brew. If you are a fan of pure bud teas that have malt and chocolate sweetness then this tea might well be the one for you!
Honey Orchid "Mi Lan Xiang" Dan Cong Oolong Tea Spring 2024
Mi Lan Xiang (aka Honey Orchid Aroma) Dan Cong is the most well-known Dan Cong style. Bai Ye varietal is used and was expertly processed over a period of a month to give it a special thick, sweet and floral (orchid) aroma. The leaves are larger and broader than many other varietals and the finished dry leaf is a deep brown color. The brewed leaves are also more brown (and less green) than most other Dan Cong oolongs. This higher degree of oxidation due to roasting brings out the delicious honey and orchid taste. When you experience the wonderful taste keep in mind it's all due to the skill of the master who lovingly processed this tea into something so special and delicious! Our Honey Orchid Dan Cong for sale here is a high grade version, harvested from 20 to 80 year old trees and bushes growing in Middle Mountain () part of the Wu Dong Mountains. It is creamy and complex, with high aroma (of Orchid) and long-lasting feeling in the mouth.

An incredibly fantastic raw Pu-erh made from Wild Pu-erh tree leaves that have a dark purple color. This (Wild Tea) is naturally dark in color, and is heavy in antioxidants and catechins. Ye Sheng " varietal aka "Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze var. assamica (J. Masters) Kitam." is a primeval varietal that pre-dates Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica and is a naturally occurring non hybridized varietal. Its potency in cha qi arises from its unadulterated nature. It is naturally bug repellent, and grows wild in the forests of Yunnan at an altitude of 1600-2200 meters. The quality of the leaves and the meticulous processing ensures excellent storage and aging potential. The infused liquor is bright and is almost completely without bitterness. There is strong full taste in the mouth and a warm stimulating feel in the mouth and body after drinking this tea. Our Jinggu Wild Tree Purple "Ye Sheng" is very different from other Purple Pu-erh varietals we have offered before. It's heavy and sweet with a flower and fruit aroma. It grows near Ye Zhu Tang village in Jinggu county.
2020 Yunnan Sourcing "Wu Liang Mountain" Wild Arbor Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake
This tea is made entirely from first flush of Spring 2020 high altitude Wu Liang mountain tea. The Wu Liang mountains peak out at about 3300 meters, making them the highest mountains in Simao prefecture. The Wu Liang mountain range is in the county of Jingdong which borders both Lincang and Dali prefectures. This tea is grown in the area of Wu Liang known as Zhong Cang village () at an altitude of 2300 meters making this some of the highest altitude pu-erh in existence. Due to the high altitude most of the tea trees in this area are a naturally occurring hybrid of large and small leaf (sinensis and var. assamica). The trees are healthy 200 year old trees growing naturally on steep hillsides and ridges. These tea gardens are arguably some of the remotest tea gardens in all of Yunnan. Lack of roads and access has kept the environment of this area in good condition, mao cha prices are significantly lower than comparable Banna teas, making this and incredible bargain! The tea itself is aromatic with hints of orchid aroma (), and a strong mouth-feel. Even when young this tea is full in the mouth giving the drinker a persistent warmth and lubricated mouth feel. It brews evenly across 10 to 15 infusions never too harsh and neither dropping off suddenly, thus revealing the healthy characteristics of the trees and environment from which it came. This tea will develop gracefully through years building its character and providing the drinker with ever more complex textures. Nice and prolonged mouthfeel coupled with noticeable but not overpowering cha qi. Very infusable!

Ripe Pu-erh
2024 Yunnan Sourcing "Yi Bang Village" Ripe Pu-erh Tea Cake
Yi Bang Village is an area in the northern part of Yi Wu. Yi Bang tea is special in that it is not large leaf varietal but rather a primitive small leaf varietal that has grown in this area for hundreds if not thousands of years. Like other small leaf varietal wild arbor tea trees in Yunnan (Jing Mai), the flavor is lighter and more smooth, but the aroma is pungent and fruity. Our Yi Bang ripe tea is incredibly smooth and sweet, but with a dense pungent flavor that remains potent and complex with many steeps! A totally unique ripe tea, unlike others we've produced! We recommend trying alongside our 2024 Man Zhuan Village production for comparison and enjoyment!

2018 Three Cranes "2506" Liu Bao Tea in Basket
This is a nice 2015 harvested and piled tea that was blended and packaged in 2018. It's a blend of lightly wet pile and heavier piled grade 2 leaves. The contrast of the two differently processed leaves both with the advantage of already being semi-aged makes this a balanced and pleasurable Liu Bao! The taste is complex with some tastes of mushroomy ripe pu-erh with some bittersweet dark chocolate notes and sweet after-taste. This countered with the betel nut earthiness of the darker traditional Liu Bao gives this tea a complexity that is rarely found in the more traditional Liu Bao teas. Aging will bring out some interesting and satisfying results.

2012 Gao Jia Shan "Hei Zhuan" Hunan Hei Cha Brick
Wild Hei Cha from Yun Tai Mountains. This is the original An Hua tea varietal that has grown in the mountains of Gao Jia Shan and Yun Tai Shan for centuries (maybe longer). This is part of Gao Jia Shan's Wild Tea Series. Hei Zhuan is a unique An Hua style of tea that is based on Qian Liang Tea. It's a blend of grade 2,3 and 4 sized leaves. It is different from Fu Brick in that it does not have golden flowers . It is quite similar to "Hua Zhuan" , but uses a larger ratio of coarse/large leaves in its blend (Hua Zhuan blend is a bit smaller average leaf size). Keep in mind that the size/grade of leaves influences the taste, but it should not be equated with "quality." For example, although all Hei Zhuan are blended from a similar ratio of leaf grades/sizes, this offering (being from wild high altitude tea trees picked in spring), will outshine another Hei Zhuan that was (for example) harvested from plantation bushes during the second spring flush. Age is another factor, but we won't get into that!
