How can photography shift the focus in dominant narratives, historical representations, and discussions of power? Artists and photographers
Naima Green, Nona Faustine, and Lalah Amatullah Barrayn, whose work is featured in New York Now: Home, the inaugural exhibition in our photography triennial, take a critical look at Black feminist and queer gazes. Moderated by
Dr. Tanisha C. Ford, Professor of History at CUNY Graduate Center.

Cocktails & Culture | Sounds of Change

Celebrate the power of music and art as forces for social change at this evening of activist-inspired songs, spun by veteran DJs Misbehaviour and Operator Emz. Sit down with photographers Janette Beckman and Barnabas Crosby, who will discuss Beckman's recent images of activism and protest. Enjoy our galleries -- food and drink are available for purchase.

Moonlight & Movies: In Search of Bengali Harlem

Directors Vivek Bald and Alaudin Ullah introduce their film,In Search of Bengali Harlem(2022, 85 mins). This documentary follows Ullah from the streets of New York to the villages of Bangladesh, where he discovers his past and uncovers an extraordinary, little-known history of mid-20th century Harlem. Afterward, join a discussion with the filmmakers and City of Faith curator, Dr. Azra Dawood.
